Is JD Credit Safe?
Yes, and the honest way to answer that is to tell you exactly what we do with what you give us, what we are forbidden from doing, and where to complain if we get it wrong. That is below, in plain terms.
What we ask for, and why
We ask for proof of who you are, proof of what you earn, and proof of where you live. That is it. Specifically: your NRIC or your passport and work pass, three months of payslips or CPF contribution history, and a recent bill or tenancy agreement showing your address.
We need your identity documents because lending to an unverified person is how fraud happens, and because the law requires us to verify you. We need your income because the amount we may lend you is set by your income under Ministry of Law rules, and because we have to know the repayment fits your month. We do not ask for anything that does not serve one of those two purposes.
What we will never ask for
- Your Singpass ID or password. Never, under any circumstances. Anyone asking for it is committing a crime with your identity.
- To keep your NRIC, passport, work pass or ATM card. A licensed moneylender in Singapore is prohibited from holding these. We look at your documents at the counter and hand them straight back.
- A signed blank or incomplete contract. Every field is filled in before you sign, and you get a copy of the signed contract on the spot.
- A fee before your loan is approved. Nothing is payable before the loan is granted.
- Your bank login or a transfer to a personal account. Any payment you make to us is to the company, and you get a receipt every time.
What happens to your data
Your documents are used to assess your application and to meet our record keeping obligations as a licensed moneylender. They are handled under the Personal Data Protection Act.
One thing we can state now without qualification: we do not sell your data, and we do not pass your contact details to other lenders or to brokers. If you start getting loan offers from strangers after applying somewhere, it did not start here.
The Moneylenders Credit Bureau
When you take a loan from any licensed moneylender in Singapore, that loan is recorded with the Moneylenders Credit Bureau. Other licensed moneylenders can see it. This is not a penalty and it is not a secret, it is the mechanism that stops a borrower quietly stacking six loans across six lenders until none of them is repayable. It protects you more than it protects us.
How we will contact you about a repayment, and how we will not
This is the part people are really asking about when they ask whether a moneylender is safe, so here it is directly.
If a payment is late, we will call you on the number you gave us, during business hours, and we will talk to you about it. We would rather restructure a schedule than chase one. If you tell us early that a month is going to be difficult, you will find us reasonable, because a borrower who keeps paying is worth more to us than a borrower we are pursuing.
What will not happen, because the law does not permit it: no harassment, no threats, no abuse, no damage to your property, no splashing paint, no notes on your door, no contacting your employer or your family to shame you, and no showing up at your home to intimidate anyone. Those behaviours are what loan sharks do, and they are criminal offences. A licensed moneylender that did any of them would lose its licence and its directors would face prosecution.
Where to complain about us
First, to us: call +65 6292 7717 or come to the counter and ask for the manager. Then, if you are not satisfied, to the Registry of Moneylenders at the Ministry of Law, which regulates us and can act on a complaint. We would rather you knew that route existed and never needed it, than not knew it existed at all.

Frequently asked questions
It is safe to show it for verification, which is required. It is not safe to hand it over to keep. A licensed moneylender in Singapore is prohibited from retaining your NRIC, passport, work pass or ATM card.
No. We will never ask for your Singpass ID or password. Anyone who does is attempting identity fraud, whatever name they are using.
[to confirm: your retention and disposal policy.]
No. Harassment, threats, property damage and contacting your family or employer to pressure you are criminal offences. Call us and we will discuss the schedule.
Loans from licensed moneylenders are recorded with the Moneylenders Credit Bureau, which is separate from the bank credit bureau. Other licensed moneylenders can see your record.
Speak to us first. If that does not resolve it, the Registry of Moneylenders at the Ministry of Law regulates licensed moneylenders and handles complaints.
Borrowing from a licensed moneylender, not a loan shark
JD Credit Pte Ltd holds moneylending Licence No. 43/2026 issued by the Registry of Moneylenders under the Ministry of Law. We have operated from the same shopfront at Hong Lim Complex since 2010. You can check our licence yourself on the Ministry of Law list of licensed moneylenders before you speak to anyone here.
There are things a licensed moneylender in Singapore is not allowed to do, and knowing them protects you:
- We cannot advertise a loan to you by SMS, WhatsApp message, phone call or social media message. If you received one claiming to be JD Credit, it was not us.
- We cannot ask for any fee before your loan is approved and granted.
- We cannot ask for your Singpass ID or password, and we will never hold your NRIC, passport, ATM card or work pass.
- We cannot approve and disburse a loan entirely online. Singapore law requires you to attend our office in person so the contract and the terms can be explained to you face to face.
- We must explain the terms in a language you understand, give you a copy of the signed contract, and issue a receipt for every payment.
If anything about an approach to you does not match that list, stop, and report it to the Police at 1800 255 0000 or the X Ah Long hotline on 1800 924 5664.
